I have always been curious and eager to learn new things, so when I heard about Village Media’s SPACES, I was excited to get involved. Now, I am the host of North Bay’s Health & wellness space, where I help followers practice mindfulness, self-compassion, and radical acceptance.
SPACES is a hyper-local social media platform where community members can gather virtually to share tips, connect, and learn. Our North Bay Health & wellness space has grown to over 200 members, and it is heartening to see so many people checking out the content. My goal is to create a gentle, welcoming space where people can slow down, feel less alone, and connect with themselves in a kinder way. Even if someone leaves feeling a little more grounded or supported, that is everything to me.
The Power of Mindfulness and Self-Compassion
Mindfulness and self-compassion are central to my work as a psychotherapist. True healing cannot exist without these foundations. Through SPACES, I try to help people live more in the present moment and approach themselves and their lives with greater acceptance. Whether it is through reflecting on personal experiences, sharing insights about my rescue dog Rudy, or discussing self-care practices, the goal is always to encourage compassion and self-understanding.
For example, I recently shared about radical acceptance with Rudy. I had hoped she could be a therapy dog, but she had other ideas. Accepting her as she is brought peace to both of us, and this is exactly the principle I aim to share with clients. Learning to meet yourself and others with acceptance can foster inner calm, stronger relationships, and a healthier approach to life.
Creating Connection and Community
I have found SPACES to be a safe, friendly platform that reflects the warmth and calm of North Bay itself. My hope is that everyone who joins the Health & wellness space finds the same sense of community and support that I do. There is always space for kindness toward others, and especially toward yourself. It is never too late to begin again or to meet yourself with compassion. Wherever you go, you bring your whole self with you, and that is a relationship worth tending to.
Through both my work online and in therapy sessions, I aim to help people develop mindfulness, self-compassion, and acceptance so they can navigate challenges with resilience and understanding. It is a privilege to support others in these ways and to share insights from my own life in hopes of encouraging growth and well-being.
